Pathanamthitta: The Pathanamthitta district Election Officer has issued a warning to the Pathanamthitta LDF candidate, Thomas Isaac, for violating the election code of conduct during the Pathanamthitta election campaign. The District Election Officer stated that his participation at the Kudumbashree’s (State Poverty Eradication Mission – SPEM) official programme constituted a clear violation of the election code.
The Election Officer mentioned in the warning notice that Thomas Isaac should not further participate in any government programmes as violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The District Election Officer took this action based on a complaint filed by the Officer, stating that Thomas Isaac had used government systems for election campaign programmes.
Meanwhile, Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers from Pathanamthitta district alleged that Thomas Isaac had taken several actions to mobilize his election campaigns by involving ASHA workers. A voice message from the ASHA worker coordinator stated that the Pramadom Grama Panchayat President called for a meeting at Poomkavu, instructing all ASHA workers and Anganwadi employees to attend.
A few days ago, Thomas Isaac faced criticism for involving Kudumbashree members in campaign events.
