Thrissur: PK Biju, former MP from Alathur and current CPI(M) State Secretariat Member, appeared for interrogation before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Karuvannur Cooperative bank scam case.
PK Biju was one of the members of the commission formed by the CPI(M) party to conduct an inquiry at the party level about the Karuvannur money laundering case.
PR Aravindakshan, who was arrested earlier in connection with the case, gave a statement against PK Biju to the ED. Aravindakshan informed the ED that Satish Kumar had transacted Rs 5 lakh to Biju.
There are reports that, based on evidences, the ED is planning to interrogate more CPI(M) leaders in connection with the Karuvannur Cooperative bank scam.
Two days back the ED has issued summons to MM Varghese, the CPI(M) Thrissur District Secretary in connection with the Karuvannur Cooperative bank scam case. However, he informed the ED that he would not be able to appear before them until March 26th, citing election-related works for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. But, the ED rejected his argument.
