Thiruvananthapuram: Electricity consumption in Kerala has sharply increased, reaching an all-time high of 107.76 million units on Wednesday (April 3). This is the highest unit consumption in KSEB’s history.
Peak time demand has also reached a record high, with 5,359 MW of electricity consumed in the state from 6 pm to 11 pm yesterday. Electricity consumption has exceeded one hundred million units for the past two weeks, leading to widespread complaints of low voltage.
KSEB is forced to purchase power at exorbitant rates to meet the increased demand, buying 300 to 600 MW from the power exchange. Due to this, KSEB has informed consumers of the need to control their electricity consumption.
