Thiruvananthapuram:The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) conducted a march to Doordarshan centers in protest against the telecast of the movie ‘The Kerala Story.’ The movie tells the story of three girls from Kerala. This film exposes the concept of ‘love jihad’ and the recruitment of girls for terrorist activities under the guise of love.
Earlier, the Left, DYFI, and Congress had come forward, stating that Kerala was being insulted even during the release of the film. However, the protests ended after they failed to gain public attention.
The CPI(M) State Secretary and Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, had opposed the screening of the movie on Doordarshan. Opposition leader VD Satheesan has also approached the Election Commission. However, the BJP is questioning why there is an issue with broadcasting the movie on television when it was previously shown in theaters.
The DYFI Thiruvananthapuram District Committee led a protest march to the Doordarshan headquarters. A protest was also organized in Kochi. In the evening, DYFI also decided to screen ‘The Real Kerala Story,’ an alternative visual to ‘The Kerala Story,’ at all block centers.
