Kalpetta: The National Human Rights Commission has intervened in the death of Pookod Veterinary University student Siddharth. The commission will go to Pookode Veterinary University today and gather evidence. The commission will gather evidence for the next five days. The Human Rights Commission will also gather evidence from campus teachers, staff, and hostel students.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is also gathering evidence simultaneously. A CBI team from Delhi arrived in Wayanad on Saturday and commenced a preliminary investigation. Siddharth’s father, Jayaprakash, has been instructed to come to Pookode tomorrow, and his statement will be recorded. The CBI has started an investigation against 20 people in connection with Siddharth’s death under charges of criminal conspiracy, abetment of suicide, and ragging.
Siddharth was found dead in his college hostel bathroom on February 18. Reports say that he was allegedly assaulted by his seniors, including SFI activists.
