Chief Minister visits relief camps for namesake: Did not interact with people nor stayed to hear survivors speak

Malappuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s visit, which was much anticipated by those who were staying at the relief camp in Kavallapara in Malappuram, turned out to be a letdown. The Chief Minister did not interact with the people nor did he say anything that could lift the spirits of those who had lost everything.

The people in the relief camp said that they were not allowed to say anything to the Chief Minister. When the CM spoke he did not have anything new to say other than what he told the media. The survivors are unhappy and told that there was no need for Pinarayi Vijayan to travel all the way to Kavallapara if he had only this much to say.

His visit seemed namesake as no one was allowed to speak to the Chief Minister, not even local leaders or representatives. Thus the genuine needs and requests of the people went unheard.

Pinarayi Vijayan spoke at a meeting at the Local Gram Panchayat office to take stock of the situation. However, no one was allowed to speak to the Chief Minister or to interact with him.

However, MLA P. V. Anwar said that there was no demand from those at the camp to talk with the Chief Minister.

Pinarayi Vijayan chose not to interact and speak with all those who lost everything in the landslides and flood waters.
