Kozhikode: Malayalam movie actor, Mohan Lal, paid his tribute to the unsung hero, Linu, who sacrificed his own life during the rescue operations in flood affected Kerala.
Mohan Lal’s Vishwa Shanthi Foundation also pledged to construct a home for Linu’s family. Linu’s house had been destroyed and his family is now living in a relief camp. It was during his stay at the relief camp that Linu volunteered to go with Seva Bharati for rescue operations.
Today, Director and former NSG Commando, Major Ravi, visited Linu’s family and tried to console his grief stricken mother. As an immediate assistance to the family, Major Ravi gave Rs. 1 lakh to Linu’s mother.
Mohan Lal had earlier shared Kerala Police’s condolence post for Linu. The actor also wrote a letter to Linu’s mother consoling her and saying that Linu is now living in the hearts of three and a half crore Keralites.
Linu was living with his parents and siblings at their house in Cheruvanoor in Kozhikode. When the flood waters destroyed their home, the family moved to a relief camp.
While staying there Linu volunteered to go with Seva Bharati rescue workers to help those trapped in the flood waters and landslides. He got lost from his group during search operations and hours later his lifeless body was discovered.
Linu’s sacrifice was at first ignored by mainstream media in a bid to downplay the exceptional rescue and relief work Seva Bharati is doing in Kerala. However, social media took the cause of giving Linu his due respects for his courage and commitment to the society.
