Thiruvananthapuram: Yesterday evening, CPI(M) General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury was visited by grandson of senior communist leader, M. M. Lawrence, at the state capital.
Milan had met the CPI(M) General Secretary to petition him about the abuse and injustice meted out against his mother by communist leaders in the state.
The main reason for their anger stems from the decision of Milan to attend a BJP protest against the government for trying to take women into the holy shrine of Sabarimala. He and his mother, Asha, is hounded now by communist workers for Milan’s public stand against the government decision.
Asha, who was a contract worker with government entity SIDCO, was ousted from her work last May by the government. The decision to throw her out of her job was at the behest of the communist leaders.
In the petition to Sitaram Yechury, Asha, says that the party is taking revenge because her son took part in a BJP program.
Asha had earlier given complaint to CPI(M) leadership about losing her job and of her struggles without it. She had also mentioned the involvement of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s sister-in-law, Lily, in ousting her from the job.
However, there was no positive response from the CPI(M) leadership.
Asha had also met the Governor not as the daughter of communist leader Lawrence but as a government employee and pleaded with him about her plight under the communist party.
Milan said that Sitaram Yechury accepted his petition but did not respond to him.
