Thiruvananthapuram: In a serious lapse from the part of the Kerala police, a report says that in the past ten years, 37 murder convicts have escaped while on parole. The police are still clueless about the whereabouts of these hardcore criminals.

Around 29 criminals are said to have disappeared during their parole time from the Thiruvananthapuram Netukaltheri open jail and one prisoner escaped from the Thriuvananthapuram Central Jail.

The report says that three criminals each have escaped after getting parole from Kannur Central Jail  and Cheemany open jail.

The only action the jail authorities and the police are doing for the past ten years is to continuously send letters to each other enquiring about the capture of these criminals.

According to procedure a murder convict can get parole only after the police reports that the family of the victim do not have any problem with the granting of parole. Furthermore, the report of social department must confirm that the convict will pose no trouble to the family of the convict or to the people.

However, no one seems to take responsibility once the convict escapes during his parole period.
