Thiruvananthapuram: After an attempt to desecrate an Ayyappa temple in Malappuram, the CPI(M) party channel led by Chief Minister’s media advisor tried to peddle fake news to incite communal violence.
When the police caught the accused behind the crime, the online wing of the channel spread the news that a RSS worker was behind the incident. However, the police itself rejected the channel’s views and said that the accused has no relation with the RSS BJP or any of its affiliated organizations.
The police had arrested Ramakrishnan who never had any relation with RSS, BJP, or any of its affiliated organizations. The party channel gave the news by ignoring this fact.
Interestingly, the desecration of Ayyappa temple in Malappuram comes just two days after the Chief Minister said that the government has no intention to change its stand in Sabarimala issue.
Many believe that the communist party is trying to picture RSS workers, who had defended the rituals of Sabarimala, as those who desecrated an Ayyappa temple. The CPI(M) believes that this lie could help the party get more support from the people and thereby make way for the entry of women into Sabarimala.
A few days ago the state committee of the CPI(M) had said that the wishes of the Ayyappa devotees must be respected and hinted that the stand of the party has changed when it came to Sabarimala. Their suggestion comes after the party faced a humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha election.
However, the government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was quick to snub the party’s stand and said that the government would not go back on its tough stand on Sabarimala.
