Thiruvananthapuram: Former Public Work Minister and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader, V. K. Ebrahim Kunju, might be arrested soon after former PWD Secretary, T. O . Sooraj, spilled the beans against the Muslim League leader.

Reports say that the Vigilance Department has strong evidences against Ebrahim Kunju, which includes the money trail in the corruption. The Vigilance Department will summon the former minister for questioning again and might arrest him after it is over.

T. O. Sooraj was arrested in a similar way by the Vigilance Department.

Meanwhile, a crucial meeting of the investigating officers will take place today and it will be here that the arrest of the minister will be finalized.

Sooraj has accused that Ebrahim Kunju directly ordered that money must be given to the contract company before hand.

The former PWD Secretary also said that the then Managing Director of Roads and Bridges Corporation, Mohammad Hanish, is also party to the corruption. Sooraj claimed that whatever he is saying is also in the official records.

The Vigilance Department is taking seriously the statement of Sooraj against Ebrahim Kunju. The court has extended the remand custody of Sooraj till 3 October.

The Palarivattom flyover was built during the Congress rule at a cost of Rs. 48 crore and was supposed to be in service for 100 years. However, the bridge began to crumble and was shut just after 30 months in use.

As the bridge cannot be used in anyway, it is now decided to demolish it and build a new one in its place. It was built by a Delhi based RDS Project for the state owned Roads and Bridges Corporation.

Finally, Chief Minister, Pinarayai Vijayan, has asked E. Sreedharan, famously called ‘Metro Man’ to take up the charge in the construction of the new flyover.
