Pala: After a month long election campaigns, Pala people are stamping their decision in polling booths in Pala. The voting began at seven in the morning, after conducting mock polling at six am, to confirm the smooth functioning of the machines.
13 candidates are competing in this by-election and 176 polling booths have been arranged for voting. Five booths are marked as sensitive and security in these booths have been beefed up.
1557 new voters are casting their polls today. 1,79,107 voters are in the list in which 91,378 are women and 87,729 are men. Athikkulam booth, in Thalanad panchayath has fewer number of voters,201 and booth number 131, at ST. Thomas TCC has the largest number, 1380.
N Hari is representing NDA, Mani C Kappan is the candidate for LDF and Jose Tom, is the UDF candidate.
The polling will last till 6 pm and the counting will be held on Friday, 27th of this month.
