Kottayam: The much awaited by-election result for the Pala Assembly seat will be known today. The counting will begin at 8 am and the first indication of the result will be known by 9 am.
The postal votes will be counted first before counting the EVMs from different polling booths. The VVPAT that are to be counted will be chosen by randomly picked after a draw.
All the three fronts are equally hopeful for a win to the Pala Assembly seat which was represented by former Kerala Congress (M) leader K. M. Mani since the assembly seat was constituted in 1965.
The voting took place on 23 September and registered a 71.41% of the votes out of a total number of 1,79,107 eligible voters. There were thirteen candidates in the fray but the fight was mostly among the three fronts.
BJP candidate is Kottayam BJP President, N. Hari, while the Congress led UDF fielded Kerala Congress (M) leader Jose Tom and the CPI(M) led LDF fielded NCP leader Mani C. Kappan.
