Thiruvananthapuram: The Election Commissioner, Tikaram Meena, issued warning against the Thiruvananthapuram District Collector for lapse in the election work at Vattiyoorkavu constituency. The Collector also presented himself before the Election Commissioner and gave explanation concerning the lapse.
Tikaram Meena asked for explanation from the district collector after the official displayed indifference in the preparatory work for the upcoming by election at Vatiyoorkavu constituency.
The Election Commissioner asked for explanation from the Collector for not properly investigating the complaints raised against the voter list and also for failing to coordinate the works effectively.
The opposition parties had highlighted the failure of the administration at Vattiyoorkavu. Besides, there was delay in the detailed checking of nomination papers of the candidates standing for election. There was also lack of coordination in the revenue department. Tikaram Menna had observed all this failures from the part of the District Collector before seeking explanation.
