Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Governor, Arif Mohammad Khan, has sought explanation into the exam scam in which a failed student, Srihari of TKM Engineering College, was more granted marks during revaluation to obtain a pass.
The scam involves the Minister for Higher Education, K. T. Jaleel, who helped the B. Tech student pass the exam. This had led to huge controversy and this has led the Governor to seek explanation from the Technical University.
The organization Save University Campaign Committee had petitioned the Governor accusing K. T. Jaleel for helping the student secure a pass after failing in the exam.
Srihari had failed in one paper in the fifth semester. He had only 29 marks in the paper and after revaluation got 16 more marks. However, the pass mark is 45 and Srihair could not go for further revaluation as the University rules do not allow it.
It was at this stage that the minister got involved and helped him to get more marks inorder to secure a pass. It is found that the University has also colluded in securing the extra undeserved marks for the student.
