Kozhikode: The investigation into the serial killings of six members of a family over a period of 14 years has open up can of worms. CPI(M) Local Committee Secretary, K. Manoj, has been questioned by the police for his involvement with the main accused, Jolly, to make fake will in a bid to grab property.
The party has ousted Manoj fearing a backlash from the public as the crime has shocked the entire Kerala population. The party on the other hand said that Manoj was thrown out of the party for maligning its name.
The Crime Branch has questioned Manoj and recorded his statement. He is accused of helping Jolly get fake will to get the property of the family.
CPI(M) finds itself in a tight spot when one of its leaders is actively involved with Jolly the main accused in one of the most heinous crimes in recent history of Kerala. Many believe that it would also adversely affect the prospects of the party in the coming five by-elections in Kerala.
This is one of the major reasons that the communist party quickly dismissed Manoj from the party. However, many suspect that more leaders from the party might be involved in the crime other than Manoj.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Devaswom, Kadakampally Surendran, said that out of the six murders, three of them took place in the previous Congress led government and that if the police had investigated the matter more thoroughly then, the culprit would have been caught way back.
