Minister calls Congress candidate ‘Puthana’: Election Commissioner to take action after receiving report of DGP

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet Minister for Public Works, G. Sudhakaran, has sparked another controversy, thanks to his loose tongue. This time he called the Congress leader and candidate for Aroor, Shanimol Usman,  ‘Puthana’, the demoness killed by the infant Krishna. The minister had insulted Shanimol Usman while making a speech in a public gathering.

Shanimol Usman had registered a complaint against the communist Minister. The Election Commissioner, Tikaram Meena said that he has received the report from the District Collector and now is waiting for the report of the DGP.

However, the Congress accused the District Collector for giving a report that is soft against the Minister so that he could be excused. The party leaders say that there was huge pressure upon the Collector to go soft against the Minister.

The Election Commissioner said that his decision would be based only after he gets the report of the DGP as well. The Congress party said that the Election Commissioner should have appointed a neutral person to investigate the incident.

The Mahila Congress activists have decided to stage a protest in Aroor on Wednesday.

Aroor is one of the five constituencies that are in the grip of by-election in Kerala.
