Kochi: Two individuals have lost Rs. 40,000 after using Google Pay in another case of cyber crime. The incident happened to two employees at a private firm at Tripunithura in Kochi.
They lost their money from their accounts after they used Google Pay to cover the expense of a courier service. They informed the courier company that the courier charge was short of Rs. 10 and had sent a link to them. The company asked them to pay the Rs. 10 through Google Pay.
However, when they touched the link an amount of Rs. 10,000 was lost from the account by one of the person and Rs. 30,497 was lost by the other. Within moments both of them lost Rs. 40,000 from their accounts.
Both have approached the Marad police station and lodged a complaint. The police said that financial cyber crimes are on the rise in recent times. An investigation have begun to investigate the incident.
