Kozhikode: The District Sessions Court has rejected the bail plea of Alan Shuhaib and Taha Faizal, who were arrested and charged with the stringent UAPA for having links with the communist terrorist organization, CPI(Maoist).
The court also said that as the accused are charged with UAPA, it cannot grant them bail. The lawyer appearing for the accused have said that they would approach the High Court.
The evidences and the FIR, which states that the accused confessed of the crime became crucial for the court’s decision.
The government pleader had told the court yesterday that the charges of UAPA against the accused will remain. The police also submitted crucial evidences in court against the Shuhaib and Faizal. The police have charged the duo for being part of and spreading the ideas of a banned organization.
The police will try to get the duo into custody for more questioning. They are also on the hunt for the third person who were with Shuhaib and Faizal.
The leaflets which were found in the possession of Taha are serious and calls for armed revolution against India and instructions of how to operate. The police had also released photos of Shuhaib taking part in Maoist meetings.
The fact that the accused are members of CPI(M) have made many communist organizations trying to divert the case. Even after the police said repeatedly that there is strong evidence against the duo, the CPI has been up and against the police for arresting the two Maoist activists.
The Hindu Aikya Vedi has approached the court requesting that the court order and NIA investigation into the links of the accused with the communist terror organization.
