Kerala opposition leader demands CBI probe into Walayar rape case where two Dalit minor girls were allegedly murdered by CPI(M) members

Palakkad: The Kerala opposition leader, Ramesh Chennithala, today came down heavily against the government for siding with those persons who were acquitted in the rape of two minor Dalit girls at Walayar in Palakkad district. The deceased were sisters of 13 and 9 ages and were found hanging in their home two months apart. The court acquitted all the accused after a shoddy investigation by the police and prosecution help.

A Special Court had acquitted the accused V. Madhu, Shibu, and M. Madhu for the rape of the sisters which occurred in 2017. All the accused were arrested under the POCSO Act when the postmortem of the girls revealed sexual assault.

The accused are said to be members of CPI(M) and it is said that this helped them to escape the law. The police conducted a flawed investigation and the prosecution was weak and sided with the accused.

Ramesh Chennithala said, “The State government is with the accused. The murder was not investigated properly. There should be a CBI probe in the case.”
