Kochi: There will not be any flight service from 10 am to 6 pm from today onwards at the Kochi International Airport as the runway gets upgraded. The work will continue till 28 March, 2020 at a cost of Rs. 151 crore.
Daily flights from the Kochi International Airport is 240. In the international sector Spice Jet’s service to Maldives has been cancelled. And in the domestic sector Air India’s and Spice Jet’s Chennai service, Go Air’s Ahmadabad service, Alliance Air’s Mysuru service have been cancelled.
The services that have changed their flight timings are Air India’s Jeddah service, Sri Lankan Airlines’ Colombo service, and Kuwait Airways’ Kuwait service have been re-scheduled after 6 pm.
35 domestic flights have been re-scheduled to before 10 am or after 6 pm.
The working time at the airport has been reduced to 16 hours a day, down from 24 hours. The check-in timing for domestic flights is now 3 hours and for international flights it is 4 hours.
The runway upgrade works take place every ten years and this is the second runway up-gradation since the airport began operations in 1999.
