Kochi: Ayyappa devotees have resorted to peaceful protests in front of the Police Commissioner’s office in Kochi, where Trupti Desai and her group have been brought from the airport. The police have arrested a few devotees protesting against the activists in front of the office.
Meanwhile, Bindu Ammini who is also part of the activist team has been taken away in a police vehicle to an unknown destination. She was pepper sprayed as a mark of protest by a man, earlier today.
It is learnt that Bindu Ammini, who was in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday, reached Kochi and joined Trupti Desai and her group today morning. This points to a high level of planning and communication between them.
The devotees who are protesting are saying that they will continue with their protests till Trupti Desai and others are send back. BJP leaders have said that they would not allow any violation of rituals at the holy shrine.
BJP leader and Mizoram former Governor, Kummanam Rajasekharan has warned that if the government plans to go ahead with trying to take women to Sabarimala then the devotees will resort to widespread protests.
