Pathanamthitta: The Legislative Assembly committee has ordered the Devaswom Board to clear the Pamba river of the plastic sacks filled with wastes thrown into the river by food stalls in the Pamba area.
The committee gave the order after realizing that the pollution in the river has deteriorated. The waste from the food stalls situated at Pamba is being thrown into the river. The committee has noted that this made it difficult for the devotees to take a bath in the river.
The committee has demanded an end to the throwing of waste materials into the river and also asked that the plastic sacks be removed from the water body. The committee has also warned that it will send a report to the government about the lapse of the different departments that failed to keep Pamba clean.
