New Delhi: Lini PN, the nurse who was contracted with Nipah virus and died while treating a patient during the Nipah outbreak in Kerala was posthumously awarded National Florence Nightingale Award 2019.
President Ram Nath Kovind presented the award and was received by Lini’s husband Sajeesh P on Thursday in New Delhi.
Sister Lini worked at EMS Memorial Cooperative hospital in Kozhikode’s Perambra. Mohammad Sadik is believed to be the first person to have affected by the deadly Nipah virus whom was looked after by Lini. However, he could not be saved and soon after Sister Lini also fell ill and passed away.
