Palakkad: A group of people allegedly thrashed one of the accused in the Walayar rape and death case on Saturday morning within the Walayar station limits in Palakkad.
The accused, Madhu sustained injuries and has been admitted at a government hospital in Palakkad.
The police said that only after questioning him more details can be known. Madhu, the third accused in the case was given threats, added police. The locals had told Madhu that he would not be allowed to live in the city.
Police team will be reaching the hospital to record the statement of the accused who got injured in the attack.
The two sisters were sexually abused and were found hanging inside their dilapidated house in Walayar region. The second sister was found dead two months later.
A local court had acquitted all the accused in the case but the state Government had filed an appeal against the acquittal in the Kerala High Court.
