Kochi: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan dismissed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s stance that citizenship law will not be implemented in the state. Khan said that the protests against the bill were politically motivated. He reiterated that Kerala definitely will have to execute the law and the state cannot refrain from it.
Khan said that the bill is not aimed at a particular community. He said that everybody is obliged to obey the central law as per the constitution. The courts are the protectors of whatever problems people have with political decisions. “There is no need to worry about the bill,” he said.
Earlier, Pinarayi Vijayan had said that the Citizenship Act would not be implemented in Kerala. Referring to it the Governor said it is up to politicians to comment on the Chief Minister’s statement.
