Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) incurred huge loss of Rs. 25 lakh during the hartal called by communal forces against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
There was widespread stone pelting against KSRTC buses that were on duty. 18 of the buses have serious damages and 820 services were stopped after the protesters became violent. Six drivers and two conductors got injured in the attacks across the state.
This loss for the KSRTC came at a time when the Corporation is facing dire financial crisis. The organization is finding it difficult even to pay its employees on time.
Wind shields of many buses were broken. Even interstate buses came under attack by violent protesters. The end of many services during the hartal added to the financial woes of the corporation.
