Kannur: Youth Congress and KSU activists staged a black flag protest against Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, who had arrived in Kannur to give inaugural address at the Indian History Congress on Saturday. The protestors showed black flag while the governor was on his way to Kannur University. The police detained the protesters and removed them away.
They protested against the Governor after he made a public statement in favour of the Citizenship Amendment Act. The protestors had asked to avoid the Governor from the inauguration of The 80th edition of the Indian History Congress (IHC), but the organisers had informed that it will go according to the rules.
The district police chief had earlier itself warned that if protests or violent events erupted, they would take stern action.
