Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Legislative Assembly, today, presented a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAA). Only the lone BJP MLA in the assembly, O. Rajagopal, took a defiant stand against the resolution and said that CAA must not be opposed in the name of short term political gains.
O. Rajagopal said that many are opposing the CAA saying it is against the Muslim community and reminded the House that the BJP made Abdul Kalam the President of India.
He added that many from outside will enter into the country and we have no obligation to give citizenship to anyone entering the country. Citizenship is a form of authority being given to the people.
Rajagopal also said that everything that BJP does is on the basis of the constitution of India. The Prime Minister has said that constitution is the sacred book and those who twist his statements are doing it for their narrow needs and do not have the welfare of the country in their minds.
O. Rajagopal represents the Nemom constituency in Thiruvananthapuram. He is the first MLA from BJP to enter the Kerala Legislative Assembly. He had served as a central minister during the Vajpayee government.
