New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind has decided to drop his Sabarimala visit according to official reports. He will go to Lakshadweep instead after reaching Kochi on the sixth of this month.
The President is expected to leave for Delhi on 9 January after his Lakshadweep visit.
Earlier, the President’s office had informed that the President would visit the holy shrine on Monday. His office had also sent the instructions of his security details to the State government during his Sabarimala visit. Various departments were on working round the clock to ensure the arrangements for his visit.
However, the Travancore Devaswom Board President, N. Vasu, told that it cannot provide a new helipad in the premises of the temple. Following his statement the President’s office decided to change his itinerary.
It is believed that the failure to arrange security for the President within a short span of time was the reason behind the change of his schedule.
