Thiruvananthapuram : A committee chaired by Chief Secretary Tom Jose asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, recommending IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman to revive back in the service. The recommendation comes after six months of suspension of the IAS officer.
The immediate recommendation comes when a report will be submitted in the next three days by the government-appointed inquiry commission in the case pertaining to the death of journalist K M Basheer.
It is to be noted that the police has not yet submitted the charge-sheet in the case and also suspension period of six months have come to an end. It can be outlined in the recommendation by Tom Jose where he has said that Administrative Tribunal can be approached to revoke suspension. According to the law, if the charge-sheet is not filed, suspension can be revoked.
In August 2019, journalist K M Basheer got killed after he was hit by Sriram Venkitaraman’s car. Venkitraman who was then the survey director was suspended as part of investigation to the crime.
