Wayanad: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday had led a mass protest against the amended Citizenship Act in his constituency. In his address to the public, he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the latter and President Ram Nath Kovind was leading the nation in paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi.
Rahul Gandhi meanly compared PM Modi with Nathuram Godse and said that both of them believe in the same ideology.
“I don’t know if you know this, but when Nathuram Godse shot Mahatma he did not open his eyes. He knew what he had done. He and Narendra Modi believe in the same ideology, there is no difference except Narendra Modi does not have guts to say he believes in Godse,” Gandhi said addressing people in Wayanad district’s Kalpetta.
“Who is Narendra Modi to decide if I am Indian? Who has given him the license to decide whether I am an Indian or not? I know I am an Indian and I don’t have to prove it to anyone. There are 1.3 billion Indians who don’t have to prove that they are Indians,” he said.
“No matter how much Modi talks about Pakistan, it is not going to get jobs for our youngsters. The NRC, CAA won’t get us jobs. Situation in Kashmir is not going to get us jobs. Burning Assam won’t gets jobs for you. We have to get together to get jobs for our youngsters,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi also blamed the Modi government on poor state of economy.
“An economy which was growing at 9 and a half percent is now growing at 2 and a half percent. But when we ask Modi what he has done about unemployment and the economy, he suddenly distracts the country,” he said.
The Congress and the other opposition parties have been trying hard to pull down the ruling government in the name of CAA and NRC. They have also indulged in spreading lies about the new law, leading to wide protests in many parts of the country.
Rahul Gandhi has continued his habit of making controversial statements against the RSS and the Sangh Parivar organizations. Rahul had earlier said that the RSS was responsible for killing the father of the nation. Subsequently, the issue reached court and Rahul Gandhi had apologized. The present statement points to similar situations.
