Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Budget 2020 speech has begun at the Legislative Assembly with Finance Minister, Thomas Issac, laying down the state’s financial plans for the coming fiscal year. This will be the last full Budget of the present Pinarayi Vijayan’s government.
Thomas Issac brought out the anti-Central government attitude the moment he began his speech by bringing up the issue of Citizenship Amendment Act and the NRC. The Finance Minister gave the signal that it would continue to block central government’s developmental schemes in the state by this antagonist posture against the country’s central leadership.
In the Budget speech the Finance Minister has increased the welfare pension by Rs. 100 and has allocated Rs. 1000 crore for road development. The plan outlay for the local bodies has increased to Rs. 10071 crore. A amount of Rs. 380 crore is earmarked for the development of the coastal areas.
