Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, asked the opposition not to spread fear about the census process. He was speaking at the Assembly today, when he made the statement.
Pinarayi Vijayan reiterated that the government will go ahead with the census process but said that the state will not implement the National Population Register (NPR).
He said, “The government is clear in its stand. Kerala will go ahead with the census process but will not implement NPR. The Opposition should refrain from spreading unwanted fear among the people.
The Chief Minister statement comes as response to Opposition leader, Ramesh Chennithala, asked the government not to conduct the census process till confusion is removed.
When one Congress MLA, A. P. Anil Kumar enquired about establishing detention centres, the Chief Minister replied that in August,2012, the then UPA government had written to the state government regarding setting up of detention centres.
