Kannur: After a court order for foreclosure, the Congress will lose the building which was meant to house the party’s district office in Kannur. The foreclosure order comes after the builder approached the court when Congress failed to pay the remaining payment.
The court has ordered that if the Congress party fails to pay the Rs. 1.5 crore as security it will lose the 47 cents of land which includes the building. The court has also ordered to send notice to the district president of the Congress party. The present order is an interim order subject to the final verdict of the court.
The court’s order comes after the building contract company Fast Line filed a plea at the court. The construction of the building, estimated at a cost of Rs. 4 crore, began in 2014. The contracting company approached the company after the Congress party paid only Rs. 85 lakhs even though 95% of the construction is complete.
The foreclosure proceedings will be initiated soon. However, the district president of Congress party, Satheeshan Pacheni, said that he has not received any foreclosure notice.
