Kochi: The High Court of Kerala got tough against Ernakulam District Collector, S. Suhas, for not appearing in court in person even after being asked to. The court was not happy with the collector’s absence and ordered that he must be present within five minutes.

The court was hearing a contempt of court case against the Collector in the Kothamangalam Church case. The court had ordered S. Suhas to be present in court. However, when the case was called the Collector failed to appear. This irritated the court, which gave the order that the Collector be present within 5 minutes.

The court said that the Collector must not come according to his wishes and took the strong stance against him.

However, the government lawyer pleaded with the court and said that it is impossible for the Collector to appear within 5 minutes. Following the plea, the court ordered the Collector to reach the court by 1.45 pm today.

The contempt of court against the S. Suhas was filed by a priest of Orthodox Church when the Collector failed to implement the court verdict ordering the transfer of the management of the Kothamangalam church to Orthodox Church.
