Kottayam: The infighting in the regional party, Kerala Congress (Jacob), has reached a turning point after party leader and MLA, Anoop Jacob, announced that the party Chairman, Johnny Nellore, has been ousted from his post. Anoop Jacob also said that he has the support of majority of the party members.
Anoop Jacob, who is the son of the party founder T. M. Jacob, accused Johnny Nellore for trying to merge the party with another regional party. He said Johnny Nellore wanted to merge the party for personal interests and that is why he is being ousted from the post.
Anoop Jacob added that he has written a letter to the Election Commission informing about the removal of the party Chairman. He said that Johnny Nellore has no authority to disband the party. He also claimed that Kerala Congress (Jacob) will retain the registration and the State Committee will soon convene and elect a new Chairman.
Kerala Congress Jacob is currently in alliance with the Congress led United Democratic Front and has a single MLA in the Legislative House.
