Thiruvananthapuram: The State President of the BJP, K. Surendran, has demanded a thorough and neutral investigation in to the flood relief fund scam by members of the communist party. He said that as CPI(M) leaders are involved in the scam it is hard to believe that state police will investigate the case properly.
The scam involves CPI(M) leaders appropriating funds meant for the flood relief which was collected by the government from different sources. These funds were redirected illegally into the hands of communist party workers.
A few days back, Director of the Ayyanadu Cooperative Bank and CPI(M) Local Committee member, V. A. Siyad, had committed suicide. He was accused to be involved in the scam. Today, his personal diary was recovered in which he accuses many other CPI(M) leaders for his decision to take the extreme step.
K. Surendran demanded that the investigation must also probe the involvement of these CPI(M) leaders too.
In his diary, V. A. Siyad, names CPI(M) Area Secretary, Zakir Hussain, CPI(M) Threkkakara Central Local Secretary, V. R. Jayachandran, Kunnaeparambu Branch Secretary, K. P. Nisar as those behind his reason to end his life.
Surendran says that the diary entry is written in Siyad’s own handwriting and he names an Area Secretary of the communist party which throws doubts about the effectiveness of the investigations.
The BJP leader reminded that the clerk at the Ernakulam Collectorate had diverted the flood relief funds to many accounts and thus only a detailed and neutral investigation without political meddling could bring out the truth.
