Kochi: The ABVP has submitted a plea to the Governor, Arif Mohammad Khan, Minister for Higher Education, Vice Chancellors of Universities and other higher officials demanding that the University exams be postponed in view of spread of COVID-19 infection in the state.
ABVP State Secretary, M. M. Shaji, said that the students are facing a high level of anxiety due to the scare of COVID-19. Many areas of the state are facing an emergency like situation due to the spread of the infection.
The ABVP leader said that when the state is facing such a situation, the students cannot write the exam after travelling many kilometres to the exam centres.
Currently, the Kannur, Calicut, Kerala, and MG Universities have decided to go forward with conducting exams. The ABVP leaders have approached the authorities of these Universities demanding that the exams be postponed to a later date.
However, the state government has given instructions to go ahead with the exams without taking into account the security of the students. The ABVP has demanded that the government give importance to the security of the students and take decisions accordingly.
