Thiruvananthapuram: The excise department has said that the beverages in state will not be shut even in the prevailing condition of the epidemic COVID-19. Necessary precautions have been taken under the instruction of Chief Minister said excise department.
Masks and sanitizers will be made mandatory for the employers at Beverages Corporation. The Excise Commissioner will issue a circular which sets out the safety guidelines to be followed in the sales outlets.
It is estimated that the state will suffer a huge loss if the stores are closed until March 31. The Excise Department said revenue levels would put the government in crisis.
Excise Minister TP Ramakrishnan had also said that the beverage would not be shut in the wake of COVID-19. The minister also promised to open more counters to curb congestion in front of sales outlets.
