Thrissur: The outbreak of COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the people travelling by train has declined by a large extent due to scare of the epidemic.
As per reports, Thiruvananthapuram witnessed a 61 percent decrease in the number of passengers. As many as 2.2 lakh passengers travelled from the capital city on March 10 but on March 18, only 80,188.
The number of passengers which was 1.27 lakh on March 12 has fallen to 1.26 lakh on March 13 and 96,608 on March 14.
Cancellation of the tickets seem to be in full swing when about 368 people on March 10 cancelled at Thrissur railway stations. On March 11 and 12, 505 passengers and on March 13 1,112 people cancelled their tickets.
According to reports, the Malabar, Maveli and Mangalore express trains are running without minimum passengers.
