Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, has promised to look into the assault on the reporter and cameraman of Janam TV by members of communist activists of CITU and Congress activists of INTUC. The Chief Minister said that he was not aware of the issue and promised to look into the matter.

Pinarayi Vijayan said that he would look into the matter during a press conference in Thriuvananthapuram today evening.

Meanwhile, the union for journalists condemned the assault on Janam TV reporter, A. N. Abhilash, and cameraman Midhun. The duo was covering a story about the off loading of liquor at government beverage go-down during the lockdown, when they were assaulted by members of CITU and INTUC.

The journalist union demanded that the Chief Minister must make journalism work safe in the state.

The Janam TV reporter and cameraman had gone to the go-down after many residents of the locality complained about the off loading works without following any security measures as stipulated by the government. The CITU and INTUC members snatched the mike and destroyed the camera of the duo.

Abhilash and Midhun was rescued by a police team which came at the location while they were being assaulted.
