Palakkad: The police have registered a case against a leader belonging to the trade union of the communist party, CITU, for instigating migrant workers to agitate during the lockdown.
Case was registered against the secretary of the union of migrant workers, Zakir Hussain, for giving a call to migrant workers to agitate against the government demanding to go back to their home states.
Yesterday, Zakir Hussain, organized an agitation with four hundred migrant workers at Pattambi in Palakkad district. He had asked the migrant workers to protest saying that they are not getting food and water and must be send back to their home states.
However, the police arrived on the scene and persuaded the agitating migrant workers to return to their lodgings. Following, the police registered a case against the CITU leader, Zakir Hussain under various charges.
Zakir Hussain is known to have worked for the CPI(M) under various capacities before being assigned to work among migrant workers in Pattambi.
