Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala police chief, Lokanath Behera, has warned against spreading fake news over social media concerning the measures taken by the government to counter spread of COVID-19.
The DGP said that strict action will be taken against those who are spreading wrong and exaggerated information about the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that voice messages which spread such false information are being circulated over social media.
Lokanath Behera said that the police have noted that some individuals are creating mobile applications which are giving wrong information about COVID-19. He said that this is criminal offence and thus strong legal actions will be taken against such persons.
The Chief Minister had also spoken about the spread of fake news about the medical treatment and prevention of spread of COVID-19.
