Kasaragod: An Imam of a mosque along with his aide have been apprehended for conducting prayers at the Arai Juma masjid in Madikkee village during the lockdown period.
More than 25 people attended the prayers despite several warnings to refrain from social gatherings during the lockdown.
Kasaragod District Collector, D Sajith Babu, has ordered for a case to be filed against them under section 269 of IPC.
It is to be noted that Kasaragod district is the hotspot of COVID-19 in the state, with the highest number of positive cases in Kerala.
Many such reports have been coming from across the state of illegal gatherings and prayers being organised amid lockdown.
Earlier, on Friday nine more people tested positive for the virus taking the tally to 295.
