Palakkad: In the allegation pertaining to stealing of rice by CPM leaders from the community kitchen in Puthussery, the Panchayat Deputy Director has alleged that it is a lapse by the panchayat president.
There are no records of the quantity of rice and other commodities received from Central PSU. The investigation report has been submitted to the District collector.
Two days earlier, Hindustan Petroleum Limited and Beml supplied rice and other essential commodities to Puthussery panchayat community kitchen. Hindustan Petroleum gave away 1000 kg or rice while, Beml supplied commodities worth Rs 21527. However, it was alleged that the panchayat president and two LC secretaries of the CPM had stolen it. Subsequently, the deputy director of the panchayat investigated the incident.
The deputy director found that the panchayat did not comply with the government guidelines regarding the distribution of rice. There are no records in the panchayat of the amount of commodities received.
The deputy director said that there had been an error from the president of the panchayat.
Though Hindustan Petroleum Limited has not yet responded to the incident, the BJP has lodged a complaint with the Union Petroleum Ministry.
