Kannur: Cherukallayi native of Mahe, Maharoof (71) died of coronavirus infection on Saturday morning. He was undergoing treatment at Pariyaram medical college.
The deceased was a heart patient and also suffered from kidney disease. However, it is still unknown as to how he contracted coronavirus.
After complaining of fever, he sought treatment from Tely hospital in Thalassery on March 26. Later on March 31, he was admitted due to severe respiratory illness. The condition of the patient worsened and was shifted to MIMS hospital.
Following the test, he was confirmed with COVID-19 and was shifted to Pariyaram medical college hospital.
According to reports, he had come in contact with many people including a prayer at mosque.
