Thiruvananthapuram: BJP’s state Vice President Sobha Surendran came down heavily upon Finance Minister Thomas Isaac for his response after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice in the course of coronavirus.
Thomas Isaac had said that PM Modi should not only give advices but also the fund be released. Reacting to this, Sobha Surendran said that Isaac’s response was a demeaning one.
Thomas Issac on Tuesday maintained that his state needs money more than appreciation for the work it has done to mitigate the impact of the lockdown.
“The only additional money that Kerala received is mere Rs 230 crore and that too for COVID-19 work. The funds we received to tide over revenue deficit is different — we would have got it anyways,” said Issac.
She said that they have no tolerance to hear PM Modi’s piece of advice and his appeal to the citizens to be cautious during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Minister is only here to ask for money rather than hearing to Prime Minister, said Sobha Surendran.
Sobha Surendran asked that isn’t this particular Minister who passed a bill that sanctioned to hire a helicopter worth Rs 1.5 crore. Also Rs 3 lakh was alloted to Chief Secretary for the renovation purpose.
“It is the same people who tell every poor person that you have to live with your fingers crossed and contribute to the state government’s coronavirus fund and does profligacy,” she said in her Facebook post.
