Kannur: The coronavirus lockdown has given a major setback for private bus sector in Kerala. Workers and bus owners say alike that the private bus industry will have to be forcefully shut if the government does provide emergency assistance to pay tax insurance.
The private bus sector was already in a state of crisis. Now above that, the coronavirus lockdown has become a trouble for the sector.
About ten thousands of daily wage workers are depended on this sector. Moreover, it is a huge plight for those who acquired a loan from the bank in order to buy the bus.
If the government does not provide any assistance to this sector during the coronavirus lockdown period, it would be difficult for them to survive and the sector would collapse completely.
