Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday directed all district collectors via video conferencing to increase the number tests for coronavirus. He also issued strict order to close interior roads on district borders.
The video conference was held with higher officials including district collectors, district police chiefs and district medical officers among others.
As per statistics of medical testings in last week showed that only 500 tests are being conducted per day when Kerala has facilities to conduct 4,000 medical tests per day.
Although Kerala has not been granted permission to conduct random test kits by the Indian Council of Medical research, the state shall continue testing using the available facilities.
Kerala had prepared facilities to accommodate expats when they return to their native land. In view of this, the district collectors have been directed to identify more places where the expats can be sheltered.
